Arena Polo at the RCBPC

Many of you know that I only have had a short existence in the Polo scene, so my excitement is maybe misplaced. However, bewildering and awe-inspiring still do not describe Polo Ponies in an arena! I have made a few visits now to the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club of late to bear witness to some fantastic arena polo.

Firstly it is worth saying that the whole setup at the RCBPC (Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club) is very professional and organised. The stables are better quality than an average US motel and probably boast a more regular cleansing regime. The grounds, well kept as are the clubhouse, canteen and well-prepared arena give a welcoming hug to polo players, managers and spectators in general.

Max Charlton worked in total harmony with his ponies last Monday (2-1-2017) along with the players of Sifani and Regal Warriors providing us with a spectacular high goal game of extremely fast polo.  Polo players and ponies encapsulated within wooden walls of the arena still charge about with agility and grace.

Zoltar even though had a lower handicap won a well-played match with local rivals Tally Ho Farm. Royston Prisk played a good game as did Charlotte Christodoulou and young and upcoming Eric Appen.

There is no doubt in my mind that arena polo is not only very exciting but actioned filled for player and ponies. I have always maintained that the Polo Pony is an extremely well looked after and an unmistakably individual who understands the game better than me for sure!

If you drink a lot of Red Bull to get that adrenaline boost, try visiting an arena polo match, it pretty much has the same effect, well for me it does!
